Self-compassion word of the day: “Nourishment”

There’s a wanting, an unconscious craving, and then there’s a wiser, more gentle kind of knowing that asks “what will nourish me right now?” Nourishment is the choice that sustains you. That lets you digest things…fully & consciously. The other way is to make reactive choices and live unconsciously, with experiences only half-digested.

How will you nourish yourself today?

Self-compassion playlist

Here’s a new playlist I made called “Self-compassion.” All the songs are about self-love and being there for yourself when no one else can. Try it out & let me know what you think! Also if there are any songs you think would fit this theme that I missed let me know & I’ll add them!

Ecofashion + Self-compassion: tip of the day

Today’s self compassion tip is:

Practice loving kindness meditation for yourself every morning.

Loving kindness meditation, also known as ” metta,” is a Buddhist practice of wishing happiness, wellbeing, safety & stress-free life to loved ones, strangers, enemies (and of course yourself!). It’s a beautiful offering that taps us into what we are really capable as humans. Try it for yourself one morning and see how it affects your day:

May I be happy. May I be safe. May I be well. May I live with ease.

May (loved one) be happy. May they be safe. May they be well. May they live with ease.

May (stranger/ neutral person) be happy. May they be safe. May they be well. May they live with ease.

May (difficult person/ enemy) be happy. May they be safe. May they be well. May they live with ease.

Today’s ecofashion piece is the Charlie Brown dress! It’s a super cozy tee shirt dress. We are into these tee shirt dresses because they’re fun, free-flowing, and can be worn so many ways- casual or dressy, over tights or jeans, to lounge around in at home, or to work in. Ecofashion + Self-compassion: tip of the day

Hello! The winter mantra is self-compassion so I’m pairing self-compassion tips with ecofashion this month. All the featured clothing are original designs made by me.

Self-compassion tip #2:

Love your body & show you appreciate it by giving it some movement.

In today’s internet-driven world we spend so much time sitting, looking down, hunching, scrolling, swiping. Being mindful of our body is more important these days than ever! Do you stretch daily? How often do you dance? Can you give yourself 5 minutes of freedom and self-love to stop what you’re doing, get up, turn on a funky song & dance in your livingroom ? Try it and note how your body feels after!

One passion project I’ve been working on w/ my roommate Carly (the model featured in these pics) is a line of eco-conscious tee-shirt dresses. By “eco-conscious” I mean upcycled from gently pre-loved, pre-washed clothing. Each one is a one-of-a-kind, carefully selected on many thrifting adventures and altered/ sewn at our home in Louisville, Kentucky. This one we call “Darth-Lace”

Self-compassion mantra- try this!

Here’s a meditation tool you can use to remind you to be kind to yourself. I am calling it “mantra art”. I got this quote from the book “Self-compassion” by Kristin Neff. Painting it was therapeutic and keeping it on my altar has really helped me remember to practice self-kindness & self-care- it’s so powerful! What do you think? Would you be into using hand painted art like this with your favorite mantra or quote?
